It seems that a lot of companies and artists are trying to still work from a 1980s era model on music sales, distribution, and so on.
Andrew Dubber & Co., under the name "New Music Strategies" are putting out some interesting ideas regarding the modern music business. NMS are actively trying to establish a new methodology, particularly from the standpoint of making it as an independent.
Also, Dubber's e-book is well worth a read. At the very least, it will get you thinking a bit differently regarding models of music sales and distribution.
As for my thoughts, I'm mulling a few things over. I'm thinking I might be implementing some of these strategies in upcoming releases. I let you know more as it comes.

Bent 6 rising
The room is arguably functional now. At least, the control room. Some patchbay wiring to do for connecting up the recording rooms as well as placement of acoustical treatment.
Can't thank Floyd Toole enough for his work on utilizing a room/speaker combination to get accurate monitoring. Very, very cool stuff. Whilst initially somewhat counterintuitive (it could be useful to place a speaker in a modal null?) Toole's info has led me to a different look at speaker placement/control room arrangement that is providing much more accurate low end. It's drastic
So... I highly recommend his book, Sound Reproduction: The Acoustics and Psychoacoustics of Loudspeakers and Rooms. Not the lightest read, but well worth it!

Bent 6 Update
Laying in flooring. It always looks easier than it turns out to be.
Anyway, progress is being made. Hope to be functional next week!

EB Pre-WW2 Film on Sound
I love these old educational movies! This one is reputably from 1933 and does a great job explaining the basic physics of sound. Enjoy!

New Website - Blog
In honor of the studio rebuild (following the Nashville floodwaters) I thought I'd start getting this whole website/social networking/blogging thing together.
This room has been reconfigured for a variety of uses.
1. It is a recording & mixing room configured for stereo and 5.1 projects.
2. It serves as a post facility for film & television projects. The room can be easily configured for sound and picture editorial work. It is also configured to handle ADR & foley tasks.
3. It serves as a space for composition and performance.
I'm happy to state we should be functional within a couple of weeks!
